Garmin’s Approach X40 golf band, combining daily activity tracking and Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate technology with golf data for more than 40,000 international courses, is launching in the local market.Sporting a slim and lightweight design, the X40 combines golfing applications with connected features.
Among its golfing applications, it shows precise distances to the front, middle and back of each green as well as hazards, AutoShot tracking measures and records shot distances for post-round analysis in Garmin Connect, while Green View displays the shape of the green on each hole, allowing golfers to manually place the pin for more accurate yardages.
Smart notifications and compatibility with the Garmin TruSwing club sensor provide golfers with swing metrics in real-time and 3D animations in Garmin Connect.
Featuring daily activity tracking, the X40 records daily steps, calories burned, distance, time of day, hours of sleep and reminds users to stay active throughout the day with move alerts, and, decked out with Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate technology, monitors heart rate 24/7.
It acts as a digital scorecard, and can track individual stats such as fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round. Users can also see their shots overlaid onto one map showing personal trends and tendencies.

It also supports automatic uploads for golf and wellness data to the Garmin Connect Mobile app, allowing users to access all their data in one place, with golfers able to share their scorecards, and access their stats and view hole-by-hole details.
Sporting “a sleek and unobtrusive design” with a 1″ touchscreen, the X40 can be worn 24/7. It is water-resistant up to 50 m, while the rechargeable Li-ion battery provides up to 10 hours in GPS mode and up to five days in watch mode with activity tracking, 24/7 heart rate monitoring and smart notifications enabled.
“We’re thrilled to combine our golf technology and activity tracking into one sleek device,” Adam Howarth, Garmin Australasia general manager, commented.
