Neatgear has added to its VDSL modem router line-up, taking the wraps off its Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router (D7000), geared for faster download speeds and better streaming, which is now available in the Australian market.Supporting both ADSL and VDSL standards, the two-in-one Nighthawk AC1900 is a high-performance router with an embedded DSL modem, compatible with legacy ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ connections as well as VDSL and VDSL2 speeds.
Additionally decked out with a Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, ensuring universal internet service compatibility, Netgear states the Nighthawk AC1900 is “a logical choice for offering a future-ready upgrade to fibre/cable internet service”.
It is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor, boosting wireless, wired and USB performance, delivering AC Wi-Fi speeds up to 1.9 Gbps, and is backward compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n devices.
The Nighthawk AC1900’s high-powered amplifiers, three external antennas and Beamforming+ are designed to deliver range and reliability, while simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi technology (2.4 GHz for range and 5 GHz for performance) avoids wireless interference.
Supporting fast connections to more devices than typical modem routers, Netgear states the Nighthawk AC1900 is suited for home networks with multiple device connections.
Equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, the Nighthawk AC1900 additionally offers two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, for connections up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, with Netgear ReadySHARE providing for wireless accessing and sharing of content on USB hard drives from any device in a home network.
The Netgear genie app, meanwhile, provides a personal dashboard, designed to make it easy for users to install, monitor, control and repair home networks.
“Australian households continue to add more and more connected devices to their home network, and are quickly adopting content streaming services for video and music,” Brad Little, Netgear A/NZ vice president and managing director, commented. “If the household modem router has not been upgraded in some time then it is impossible to enjoy the best experience, as you will not be maximising the fastest Wi-Fi or latest device features for in-home networking.
“To get the most out of your Wi-Fi and to achieve the ultimate in terms of performance, upgrading to the Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router will deliver. It carries the Nighthawk name as our family of Nighthawk products meet the highest level of performance and feature requirements.”
The Nighthawk AC1900 is priced at $429 RRP.
