Harvey Norman has Santa Claus working hard in store this Christmas
That’s according to Chairman Gerry Harvey, who said his decision to bring Santa back into the store after ditching it last year is “working well” to shareholders at AGM today, reports AAP.
Harvey Norman’s Santa is present in store and offers kids a free picture with the man himself, and also flogs a selection of multiple sized prints in $10, $20 and $40.
”Last weekend we had umpteen thousand of people into our stores and we had a good weekend because we’ve got the Santa and the kids can get their photograph taken.”
But sales could go hot or cold depending on the weather, he cautioned, but is “hopeful” December trading could beat that of the same time in 2011.
”That might have a bit to do with the weather. If we have a really hot period across Australia and we sell a lot of air conditioners, then we’ll definitely beat last year.
”If it’s cold every day then we’ll battle because air conditioners are a big part of our business in December.”
Santa will be at Harvey every weekend until December 23rd.
