The already ten times platinum LP release ‘1’ has gone straight to the No 10 spot in the general charts here, after its iTunes release just last week – showing the market power the fab four still have, years later.
But its not just Australia where the Beetles are doing the business – Lennon and Co have also gone straight to No 1 in iTunes charts in US, Japan , UK and several Euro nations.
1 was first released in 2000 and spent nine weeks at No. 1 in Australia, with 27 hit tunes like She Love You, A Hard Day’s Night and Can’t Buy Me Love. It costs $17.99.
Adele still hold the top spot in the general album charts with ’21’ after 17 weeks in the position here, and is also No.1 in iTunes followed by Melbourne based singer Gotye, who is also faring well in Europe.
‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ by Gotye Feat. Kimbra tops the singles charts in Oz and is also doing well in Europe while ‘Moves Like Jagger’ by Maroon 5 Feat. Christina Aguilera is still holding on strong at No. 2 here.
