According to reports from Gartner, total global PC shipments during the quarter of 2008 rose 12.3 per cent in comparison with the same time last year.

Having said that, Apple continues to defy the trend there, managing to increase its sales by 32.5 per cent in the first three months of 2008, which was over ten times the 3 per cent average growth of the other PC makers.
PC shipments in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa totaled nearly 25 million units or almost a 15 per cent increase from a year earlier, according to Gartner.
PC shipments in the Asia/Pacific region rose 19 per cent year over year to some 19.1 million units.
