So long Sydney traffic: Talk your way through the traffic with TomTom live updates. TomTom have introduced live HD traffic updates for Aussie motorists on its GO LIVE GPS devices.
TomTom HD Traffic will help negotiate heavy traffic by delivering “dynamic navigation and route guidance” that adapts to changing road conditions.
And it promises to always give the fastest route possible.
The service combines live incidents and the realtime flow of traffic from multiple sources, TomTom said today.
The traffic information is updated every 2 minutes, which is pretty impressive and “offers Australia-wide coverage in both metro and regional areas including highway, main and secondary roads.”
The service “marks a fundamental breakthrough in the quality and functionality of GPS devices, giving Australian drivers real-time information about road conditions,” said Chris Kearney, Vice-President, TomTom Asia Pacific.
“This helps motorists make intelligent decisions that save time and money and puts the driver back in control.”Kearney adds.
HD Traffic is now also available through the GPS maker’s free online route planner.
HD Traffic is part of a new LIVE Services, which also offers: TomTom Safety cameras (real-time safety camera reporting and sharing), Local Search with Google for local listings, QuickGPSfix service (speeds up the time it takes to fix GPS position) and Weather service (local daily and five-day forecasts.)
TomTom’s Go Live series will include a year subscription at no cost, after which it is $69/year.
The new driving tool is recognised as “the world’s most accurate and detailed traffic service,” it claims.
But thats not all. The updated TomTom app for iPhone is available from the App Store for $89.99.
And the good news for current holders of the app, they can update to the new version at no extra charge.
