Google has announced its smart voice assistant, Google Assistant, is now available on Apple iPads. The news comes after Google Assistant rolled out to iPhones last year.
In a bid to take on Apple’s smart assistant, Siri, Google has emphasised its Assistant is compatible with iOS11, and can complete tasks whilst ‘mid-app’.
“The Assistant on iPad can do everything the Assistant on your iPhone can do, with the added benefit of a bigger screen that supports both portrait and landscape mode”, states Google Assistant Product Manager Brendan Lim.
“Plus, you can stay productive by multitasking on iPad with iOS 11, letting you chat with the Assistant while you play a game, plan a trip, or check your calendar”.
Consumers can ask Google assistant to check the weather, control smart home devices, cast content to TVs via Chromecast and more.
Google Assistant is rolling out to iPads from today, and is available in English, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.
The smart voice assistant is rapidly adopting new languages, with a total of 30 to expected to land by the end of the year.
Also new to Google Assistant is a multi-function ‘routines’ feature, enabling several tasks to be completed with one command – e.g. ‘Hey Google, I’m Home’ can trigger Google Home to turn on smart lights, play your favourite music, and share home reminders.
