Google have rolled out a security fix for their Android OS that addresses two notable vulnerabilities for the platform, one of which allowed unauthorized access to user’s handsets upon the opening of an altered JPEG file.

Google advised via an Android Security Bulletin that “we have had no reports of active customer exploitation or abuse of these newly reported issues” and encouraged all customers to install the update as soon as possible.

The move also comes in the wake of Google pulling several malicious applications for the Google Play Store after reports they contained malware.

The patch has been rolled out to users of Nexus devices already and will come to the devices of companies enrolled to receive Google’s monthly security updates later in the month.
