Google has taken to the support page to defend the move away from the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
The announcement of the Google Pixel 2 and 2XL model smartphones last week saw the tech giant would be removing the 3.5mm headphone jack, something which has been an industry standard for decades.
Google gave a number of reasons why they pulled the plug on the old tech; including that as smartphones got thinner, this left little room inside the phone for batteries and processors.
Google poked fun at Apple with the Google Pixel phone, following the announcement that the iPhone 7 would kill the headphone jack and replace it with a Lightning input jack.
The USB-C jack operates as a charging port, data transmitter and headphone jack.
However, the Pixel 2 does come with a 3.55 to USB-C adaptor.
Pre-orders for both Pixel 2 models in high demand following the announcement last week, with some models selling out in hours. The phones will launch October 19, and ranging from AUD$1079 to AUD$1549.
