Google has expanded its hearing aid app to more devices after launching earlier this year.
The Sound Amplifier app uses a smartphone’s in-built microphone to amplify ambient sounds for people who have hearing difficulties.
The feature was first announced at Google I/O last year and launched on Android 9 Pie in February alongside the Live Transcribe app.
The feature only works with wired headphones for the moment, but gives users control over sound output to each ear to compensate for listeners with different levels of hearing.
The app also allows users to adjust frequencies, emphasize foreground sounds and minimize background noise.
Google also added audio visualisation features and the ability to launch the app from the home screen or app drawer rather than accessing it through the Accessibility settings.
