Google and Fiat Chrysler are believed to be closing in on an agreement to collaborate in the race to develop self-driving cars. Google has already said that it does not want to build self-driving vehicles on its own and has explored alliances with car companies.Fiat Chrysler CEO
Sergio Marchionne said the company is in talks with an “advanced
technology company”, without elaborating.
On a conference call over Fiat Chrysler earnings, Marchionne repeated that he
was interested in partnerships with Google or Apple. Meanwhile GM has signaled
that it plans to go its own way on driverless car technology, moving to buy
self-driving vehicle startup Cruise Automation.
