Google is jumping into the social network by globally rolling out its +1 social networking recommendation tool that mimics the Facebook ‘Like’ button.Google has so far begun partnering with sites in Australia, including The Australian’s website, to deliver +1 buttons over the coming days.
The +1 button will work the same way as the Facebook ‘Like’ widget seen all over the social networking site and implemented into other websites, adding the user recommendation to their Google Profile.
“Adding the +1 button could help your site to stand out by putting personal recommendations right at the moment of decision, on Google search,” said Product Manager of Google AdSense, Nick Radicevic on the AdSense blog.
Advertising is a virtual money tree for Google, and the +1 gives the company a further avenue to tailor its search content to specific users based on what they recommend. The company already uses common searches and keywords from personal emails to tailor ads to Google service users.
The +1 button will begin appearing over the next few days on early adopting websites and across Google searches.
