Google’s latest version of Google Maps for their Android devices now enables users to save maps to their mobiles.
If you’re concerned about losing a GPS or internet fix while on your journey, or just want to download the maps via Wi-Fi, you simply need to enable the feature to start using it.
Once the Maps application is open, press the sub menu and then click on Labs. There will be an option that allows you to download the map area. Simply press it once and it is enabled.
The next time you nominate an area, click on its banner, scroll to the bottom and select download map area. It will then download a 10 mile radius around the address you’ve selected.
Currently Google Maps offers no cost turn-by-turn navigation on Android devices. However the application can require data, the charge of which depends on your carrier.
