First there was the Google Nexus phone, now Google is working on a sleek new Nexus tablet that is said to be radically different from current Android based tablets. The new Google Nexus Tablet is tipped to be released in September 2012 in Australia but it is not known whether Samsung, who build the Nexus smartphone, will get the new tablet or the recently Google acquired Motorola will.
Google Chairman Eric Schmidt said in Italy recently “We’ll bring a tablet of the highest quality to market in the next six months”.
Analyst Richard Shim claimed production of Google’s 7-inch (1280×800) tablet will start in April. Shim added that initial production would be between 1.5 million and 2 million units.
Some commentators claim that Google is going after the Kindle Fire as opposed to the iPad.
What we do know is that the display panel is coming from Samsung and will run a resolution of 1024 x 600.
The Nexus tablet operating system will be Android 4.0 and is expected to retail for sub $400.
