Telstra customers can now purchase applications, games, eBooks and other Google Play content using their mobile phone account.
Traditionally Android customers require a credit card to purchase content from the Google Play store. Telstra is the first company to offer a post-pay option for Google Play content.
Telstra’s Director of Consumer Applications and Services, Freddie Jansen Van Nieuwenhuizen, said the service will make it easier to purchase content for the company’s customers.
“We’ve teamed up with Google to allow our customers to place Google Play purchases of up to $20 per transaction on their Telstra mobile bill. We’re also making it easier for our Pre-Paid customers to buy apps by letting them use their main account balance to make Google Play purchases provided they have credit available.”
To charge Google Play content to your Telstra mobile bill, simply nominate “Bill my Telstra account” when purchasing an app.
