Recent reports reveal Google’s forthcoming smartphone, the Pixel 3, may feature an iris scanner – a move which could give the company a leg up over Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy devices.
The news follows recent additions to the Andriod P development notes, which reportedly alluded to the inclusion of an iris scanner.
Commentators speculate Google’s iris scanner will be robust enough to work with Android Apps – a feature lacking from the iris scanner within OnePlus’s smartphone released last year.
Should the Pixel 3 incorporate an iris scanner which supports third-party apps, Google’s new smartphone may have more to offer than Apple’s FaceID.
As Android O is still in development, confirmation of features won’t be officially provided for some time.
With the Android Open Source project currently being adjusted, it’s not unlikely the Google Pixel 3 will debut some form of enhanced security.
