As the battle between Sonos and Samsung wireless audio systems plays out Sonos has rolled out in partnership with JB Hi Fi six months free access to Google Play Music.
A visit to the JB Hi Fi web site reveals that Google is offering access to six months of music free to consumers who buy a Sonos 1,3 and 5wireless speakers and their Playbar.
The cost of a Google Play Music subscription is normally $11.95, the six months free offer is worth $71
Google Play Music is today a force to be reckoned with and could well end up eating into sales of the JB Hi Fi Music Now service.
Sonos customers who buy a new wireless sound system get unlimited ad-free listening to millions of songs during the first six months of their subscription.
Google describes the service as delivering the hottest new releases to iconic albums, there’s a world of music at your fingertips. Listen to any genre, song, album or artist on All Access, whenever you want, ads-free. Add any song or album to your library, with a click or a touch.
All Access makes it easier than ever to find new favourites. Explore millions of songs by genre, charts, new releases, staff picks and expert-crafted playlists. Our Listen Now feature selects music that you’ll want to play right away, offering smart recommendations that get smarter the more you play.
Users can:
Create personalized radio from any song or artist
Listen to radio with unlimited skips, and always see what’s coming next (Google added offline radio listening for All Access members in February)
Get smart recommendations based on your tastes
Every user – All Access and otherwise – can access their tunes with any Android or iOS device – or via browser – and “pin” specific albums, artists, songs, and playlists for offline listening.
Google Play Music has begun to cement itself as one of the standard music streaming services that many hardware and software makers alike are baking into their products – Sonos’s multi-room speaker systems being one of the latest to do so.
