After months of speculation, reports are now circulating that Google may reveal the rumoured midrange Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL on May 7, the day of the company’s I/O developer conference keynote.
“Something big is coming to the Pixel universe,” reads a new teaser on the Google Store, followed by a promo for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: End Game hitting theatres on April 24.
The term universe ties in nicely with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as does the tagline “Help is on the way.”
Several Marvel characters from the MCU are joining the lineup of AR Playmoji which are available exclusively on Pixel phones.
Numerous details of the rumoured devices have leaked over the last few months — including from Google’s own website.
The Pixel 3a line will supposedly retain the camera performance of the company’s flagship Pixel 3 12MP camera but will make sacrifices in the processing power, screen resolution, and build (plastic backing as opposed to glass).
Most rumours indicate the Pixel 3a will run a Snapdragon 670 chip, with 4GB RAM and a 5.6-inch display; whereas the Pixel 3a XL would feature much of the same with a 6-inch screen but could potentially house a Snapdragon 710 chipset.
