A new Google tablet is reportedly on the way, however it will not be of the Nexus variety.Android Police has reported that Google plans to add to its Pixel line-up with the Pixel C tablet, which will run Android Marshmallow rather than Chrome OS.
Google’s Pixel line-up currently consists of Chromebooks, with the potential expansion of the brand to tablets representing a new direction for Google, which has previously brought tablets to market under the Nexus brand name.
Android Police has reported that the Pixel C, code-named Ryu, will have a 10.2″ display with 308 ppi, and will be equipped with a Nvidia X1 quad-core processor and Maxwell GPU, with 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
As for build quality, Android Police has reported that the Pixel C will continue to feel like a Pixel, with a metal finish on the cards, with there to be two keyboard accessories to choose from, one aluminium and one leather, which will attach to the tablet and charge automatically when closed.
According to the report, the Pixel C will also feature a lightbar on the back, glowing to show the remaining battery life, and will come with a USB Type-C charger.
The product could make an appearance at Google’s September 29 press event, with Android Police tipping it will be released some time in November.
