Google has been upping the game in its automation technology, but the company may have hit a bit of a speed bump earlier this week. Actually, that’s not accurate: they hit another Toyota Prius.

The Gi-normous internet company has been hard at work developing automated cars that drive themselves, reports jalopnik.com. So far they’ve done a pretty decent job at it, even producing enough evidence to Nevada’s State legislature to create a licence especially for self-driving cars. Since then, its technology has been legally driving hundreds of thousands of miles in California.
But throughout the weekend, Google’s beloved baby project rear ended another Prius. Its car identifiable by the technology defacing the Prius’ roof, did the deed just outside of Google’s Mountain View headquarters in California.
Google released an official statement on the incident highlighting that safety is their first priority. They also claim that the self-driving car was being driven, which is why it resulted in an accident. There has been no other confirmation on whether or not this is true.
Google’s driving cars use a complex combination of laser and imaging systems to help identify potential hazards. So far, the system allows for a person to override its ‘autopilot’, but as all things with Google, the company intends to do big things with this technology.
