Optus MeTV service is going foreign, launching 51 channels including Chinese and Hindi.

The telco has just announced the expansion of its MeTV fetchTV IPTV service introducing 51 new foreign language channels and 4 world packages – offering Hindi, Chinese Mandarin, Korean, Mandarin (Singaporean / Taiwanese) programs.
The four World Channel Packs, available on MeTV start from $14.95 a month, and that’s on top of the basic $9.95 cost.
World packs offer foreign news and entertainment channels, music, movies, food, lifestyle and spiritual programming, meaning Optus can now say its trademark ‘Yes’ in some new languages: ‘haa’, ‘ne’ and ‘shi’.
The world packages are as follows:
1. Hindi (Indian programs) – 14 channels
2. Mandarin (Chinese programs) – 24 channels
3. Korean (South Korean programs) – 6 channels
4. Mandarin (Singaporean / Taiwanese programs) 7 channels
All of the packs cost $19.95 bar the Korean option which goes for $14.95.
Optus launched its Fetchtv MeTV Internet TV service includes PVR set top box, free to air channels, 30 free movies a month (or one a day) delivered across broadband last year and launched iPhone app for the service in December.
The new packages demonstrate Optus ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of a culturally diverse Australia, it said today.
