Haier Vice-Chairman, Wu Kesong and Haier Director of ASEAN & South Asian Division, Shi Zhiyuan were at Lidcombe for the opening. Wu Kesong was welcomed by Fisher & Paykel Chief Operating Officer, Mike Church and Haier Australia General Manager, Richard Bowe.
Haier took a 20 percent stake in Fisher & Paykel last year, with Fisher and Paykel now being responsible for the distribution of Haier whitegoods in Australia.
Mr Wu said Haier’s investment in Fisher & Paykel was an important part of Haier’s global brand building strategy, and also an example of Haier’s “exchange resource” in overseas development.
Mike Church acknowledged the synergies between the two companies and said, “While we speak different languages we share common aims and are both dedicated to producing excellent appliances for discerning consumers. There is no doubt this is a mutually beneficial relationship.”
