HAL’s new Helix automation system will be available next month, offering control of your environment through technology developed in the IT industry.
The Australian CE company will offer the Helix automation processor connected to HAL’s Lifepad touchscreen. The processor comes in two versions – 80GB and 380GB – which can be combined with touchscreens in four sizes: 12-inch, 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch.
Both processors in the Helix range feature 6 x serial, 6 x USB 2.0 ports, 3 x PCI slots, dual LAN, audio in/outs and a DVD drive. The unit is housed in an aluminium-faced robust casing. They run on a Windows XP platform.
After startup, Helix runs its proprietary automation software, which includes a two-zone music server, digital TV and modulated security camera timer. According to a release, the beauty of the system is the fact that it is easy to program. Full logic, scene and schedule control programming is offered via the same Graphic User Interface seen by the user.
Corresponding codes for HAL’s multi room AV and lighting ranges have also been preinstalled for virtual plug-and-play operation. Codes for other major lighting control systems have also been installed and can be selected. The system also connects to your network and when it sees an Internet connection and will automatically download and install any software upgrades provided by the manufacturer.
When the range is released in July, the HAL Lifepad 15, 17 and 19 will be available on launch, with RRPs ranging from $7500 to $11,000. The Lifepad 12 will be available soon after that, with a RRP of $5000. More information on the range can be found at http://www.hallifestyle.com
