Have you just bought an iPad 2? What a pity, as Apple is set to release a new iPad 3 in March that is said to be faster and have a “stunning” new display screen. There is also speculation that it may not be called an iPad 3 in the same way that Apple bought out the new iPhone 4S instead of an iPhone 5.The New York Times quotes an anonymous employee as saying that the new iPad is “essentially the same size and shape as the iPad 2”. There will also be a new, faster processor.
Apple’s first iPad was released in April 2010, and the iPad 2 came out in March 2011. The company typically upgrades its mobile products about once a year.
The New York Times said with the iPhone 4, Apple introduced a screen with a higher pixel density, which it called a retina display. The next iPad could presumably come into line with recent iPhone models and have a similar display.
The new iPad is tipped to be announced next month at an event in San Francisco. An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.
