JVC is set to take on Kodak and Flip with the launch of its new pocket-sized HD camcorder that can record videos in 1080p.

The PICSIO sports an 8-megapixel CMOS image sensor to capture JPEG stills and will record 1080P HD videos (1440 x 1080p) at 30fps. It is comes with an HDMI out (Mini), allowing users to look at photos and videos on any HDTV. It also comes with an image stabiliser to minimise blur and shakes when taking videos.
The unit charges via USB connection, so it automatically charges up whenever you connect it to transfer your videos and images to a PC. USB Cable, AV Cable, Hand Strap and PC Software are provided with the unit.
The unit does not have any internal memory, but accepts SDHC cards up to 32GB.
The JVC PICSIO GC-FM1 will be available next month for $299.
