The Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT) is set to test Christmas goodwill cut as it heads to the High Court in December in its contest with the Internet industry over copyright.
The High Court has set aside December 1 and 2 to hear an appeal by AFACT against two Federal Court judgments that found ISP iiNet had not authorised alleged copyright-infringing activities committed by its subscribers.
Written submissions are due in the High Court by the end of business on Wednesday.
A number of third parties have also lodged applications with the High Court to appear as “friends of the court”, including the Australasian Performing Right Association, Australian Recording Industry Association, the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance and the Screen Actors Guild.
