EXCLUSIVE: Chinese brand Hisense is set to launch Google TV 4.0 in the second quarter of 2013. The new TV will be launched in Australia shortly after the global launch. Hisense will be the only brand to offer the new look Google TV service.
According to Google sources, the “significantly” upgraded TV service will have a cleaner look and will deliver access to a new range of content spanning movies, music and YouTube content.
The new software also delivers AirPlay-type capabilities, allowing Android phones to stream media directly to a TV.
According to Andre Iannuzzi, Marketing Manager of Hisense Australia, the new Google TV service will be built into a Hisense XT780 TV. It will also be available via a separate media player box, Pricing for Australia has not been set.
Speaking at CES Iannuzzi said “We are the global launch partner for this new TV offering and from what we have seen this will be an exciting offering”.
In 2013, Hisense who took over the Microsoft stand at CES is looking to grow their TV share in Australia.

Among their product offering will be the XT880 which is an Ultra High Definition TV that will be available in three sizes: 50″, 58″ and 65″.
The new range will go on sale in June in Australia.
The XT880 UHD range deliver 3,840 x 2,160 display resolution. They are also launching a fully-fledged, 3D-capable smart TV based around Android 4.0 with WiFi internet access, a remote with voice commands and a removable camera for gesture control or Skype chats.
Iannuzzi said Hisense intends to offer products in the “premium TV market as well as the budget TV market”.
“We will have both a 4K TV range and a Full HD smart TV range. All of our premium TV’s will come with Smart TV application technology,” he said.
Later this month the Company will start rolling out new demonstration kiosks in JB Hi Fi stores they are also close to launching Smart washing machines in Australia.
