HP has partnered with Bang & Olufsen to bring Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play audio tech to its PCs, tablets and accessories, replacing Beats as its audio supplier. The new audio partnership follows last year’s acquisition by Apple, a competitor for HP in the PC market, of Beats.
The first HP PC systems with Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play audio are set to become available in the US spring.
The Bang & Olufsen brand will appear on HP’s Spectre, Omen, Envy and select commercial PCs, with the B&O Play brand to appear on HP Pavilion PCs, tablets and PC audio accessories.
The companies stated all HP devices that carry the Bang & Olufsen or B&O Play brand will have a dedicated audio island which isolates “sensitive audio circuits from other signals on the motherboard”.
With all HP devices including an audio control panel, users will be able to “customise and enhance their audio experience based on preset configurations tuned by HP and Bang & Olufsen”, choosing from optimised presets or manually tuning the sound.
Ron Coughlin, HP senior vice president, Personal Systems, noted audio across various uses, including watching movies, listening to music, and using Skype, plays an “important role in the
experience customers have on their PCs, tablets and accessories”.
“With their passion and expertise, we are thrilled to work with Bang & Olufsen to create exceptional sound experiences for customers,” Coughlin commented.
