HP has announced a world-first dual-screen laptop among several updates to its gaming lineup, including a clothing line and other accessories.
The OMEN X 2S ($3,999) features Nvidia graphics, Bang and Olufsen dual stereo speakers and two displays.
A 15.6-inch screen, either in FHD at 144Hz or 60Hz at UHD 4K, is supplemented by a 6-inch FHD touchscreen.
The secondary screen is the result of HP research finding large majorities of the gaming community use their phones while gaming to send messages, watch videos, play music or browse the internet.
Gamers can use the second screen for easy access to messaging apps, watch Twitch streams, or as an extended display for in-game content like maps.
Those craving even more screens can pair the X 2S up with HP’s new OMEN X 25 ($1,099) and X 25f ($799) displays, featuring micro-edge bezels 1ms response times and 240Hz refresh rates.
HP also announced updates to its OMEN 15 ($2,399) and OMEN 17 ($2,499) laptops, making them run cooler and faster, in slimmer form factors.
All three laptops feature Intel i9 processors and run HPs proprietary OMEN Command Centre to optimise hardware and cooling.
The lower-specced Pavillion gaming line-up has also been slimmed down and refreshed, with 9th gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processors now available.
HP also spruiked two new gaming mice, including the wireless (and wirelessly charging) OMEN Photon, which HP claims can charge in 2.5 hours using the OMEN Outpost mousepad featuring Qi charging.
As part of the rising e-sports culture, HP is entering the apparel and lifestyle market with a line featuring 20 different styles, as well as the ergonomic OMEN Citadel gaming chair.
HP’s new OMEN laptops will be available in July, with displays available the following month.
The OMEN Photon mouse and Outpost mousepad are also available from August but HP is yet to settle on a price.
