The research, conducted by mobile phone comparison site Good Mobile also revealed that the Samsung’s Galaxy S handset and Nokia’s flagship N8 were more popular than for the iPhone.
The BlackBerry Curve 8520, Samsung Tocco Lite, BlackBerry Torch and Sony Xperia X10 Mini made up the rest of the top 10 most searched-for phones.
“For some time now, HTC has been knocking at the door and trying to overtake the Apple iPhone’s dominance of the handset market,” said Mark Owen, managing director of the comparison site that carried out the survey. “Our results clearly show that they have taken the lead in terms of consumer demand for their smartphones.”
