Phone company’s sales rise 3% after a shocking financial performance of lateHowever, HTC sales for November were down almost 30% on the same time last year to NT 15,4bn. Last month’s sales were also down 27% year on year, despite the release of its hero One smartphone.
Nonetheless, it marks the first quarterly sales growth for the Taiwanese smartphone maker in over 5 months.
Last month, HTC released the Max phablet down under, and is calling upon Robert Downey Junior to push its ‘change’ philosophy.
In Q3 last, the One maker reported a NT$3 billion loss – its first ever quarterly loss.
Things aren’t looking too hot for Q4, either.
Analysts Morgan Stanley forecasts HTC will ship just 3.5 million smartphones in Q4 – down 34% from Q3.
The news comes as reports out of Taiwan indicate the company is mulling over partnering with other chip makers apart from long time partner Qualcomm, in a bid to gain growth in mid range market.
