HTC management have done a backflip overnight by announcing that they have had a change of mind over whether they put Gingerbread on the Desire, which is one of the most popular Android Smartphones sold in Australia.Last night HTC management in Taiwan said that will be bringing the Android 2.3 update to the HTC Desire after earlier in the week claiming that the processor on the phone was not capable of handling both the Gingerbread upgrade and the HTC Sense software.
A statement issued by the company said: “Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire.”
As part of the sales agreement, carriers in Australia had said that they would deliver future Android upgrades for the device.
What is not known is how the HTC Desire suddenly got the necessary processing speed to run the Gingerbread OS version after initially claiming that the Desire lacked the necessary speed to run two software upgrades to the OS.
