The Taiwan smart-phone maker’s profit of US$197.4 million was only marginally down. Revenues climbed 33% from the first quarter’s.

The world’s biggest maker of Microsoft Mobile phones HTC has this year started shipping Google Android phones and will shortly launch new phones in Australia with their own “touch” interface.

The company launched the world’s first Android-based phone, the G1 and is now working on a brand new model, nicknamed the Hero, which is scheduled to be launched by Telstra later this year.
