Huawei has again been slammed for misrepresenting its smartphone camera capabilities, this time disguising a DSLR image as a selfie captured by its new ‘Nova 3’.
As per Android Police, a Reddit user has leaked a behind-the-scenes image, revealing the posed ‘selfie’ was captured by a professional DSLR camera.
In the advertisement (below), Huawei’s AI camera claims to prevent a woman from needing to apply more makeup – a fact the DSLR camera now seemingly rebuffs.
It’s not the first marketing mishap for the Chinese manufacturer, with Huawei famously exposed for photoshopping bezels out of its P8 smartphone renders.
In 2016, Huawei was caught out for posting an image on Google+ which claimed to highlight the power of its new P9 camera – saved metadata soon revealed the photo was captured on a US$4,500 Canon camera.
With its new P20 Pro awarded one of DxoMark’s highest smartphone camera ratings, some claim Huawei may be better off highlighting its cameras’ true capabilities.
