Huawei, the Chinese smartphone company that stopped Australian journalists from attending their CES launch in January, has now come out and said that they could be the top smartphone vendor in the world.Wan Biao, CEO of Huawei Devices, has claimed the Chinese company can repeat the astonishing success of Samsung and Apple in the smartphone market, and that within five years, Huawei would “usurp” market-share from the two phone giants.
He said that a key product in their arsenal is the impressive new Ascend P2 which was announced last week at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

He told the UK Daily Telegraph “Our philosophy is that, within any one price segment, Huawei’s the best one. And in the price segment of the iPhone, second half of this year, we have a new flagship, targeted at the higher end.”
“If you look back five years ago, Apple is small, Samsung is not so big. You can’t see where we’ll be in five years. At least top three. Maybe number one.”
