Huawei is prepping both versions of its flagship offering for availability in the Australian market later this month.
The company has now announced that the Huawei P10 will be available from Vodafone, Optus and Virgin Mobile from May 25.
As reported by ChannelNews last week, the Huawei P10 Plus will also be available from selected retailers from the same date.
When Hauwei Australia’s new CEO Meng Xiaojie revealed that the P10 and Huawei Watch 2 were due for the local market, the omission led many to assume the company would simply continue its habit of not ranging the plus-sized variants of their premiere smartphones.
SmartHouse understands that the company’s decision to break with tradition and offer bring both the P10 and P10 Plus to the Australian market came in response to consumer feedback they received to their P9 and Mate 9 devices.
First announced at this year’s MWC, the Huawei P10 Plus is set to expand the brand’s Leica-powered dual-camera tech to encompass both sides of the device. Beyond the photography side of things, the P10 and P10+ will feature a Kirin 960 chipset and 4GBs of RAM.
The main difference between the P10 and P10 Plus is screen size and resolution, with the P10’s Full HD display coming in at 5.1-inches and the P10+’s Quad-HD display at 5.5-inches.
While Huawei’s overseas marketing for the products has emphasized the range of color variants on display, that side of things looks to be a little more limited in the Australian market.
Only three of the eight colors shown at MWC will be available here with Dazzling Blue exclusive to Optus and Gold locked to Vodafone customers.
The P10 will land with a recommended retail price of $899 while the P10 Plus comes in a little higher at $1099.
