Chinese smartphone player Huawei has fired its first shots against the dominance of Apple and Samsung, announcing preorders for its latest flagship device.
First announced at this year’s MWC, the Huawei P10 Plus is set to expand the brand’s Leica-powered dual-camera tech to encompass both sides of the device. Beyond the photography side of things, the P10 and P10+ will feature a Kirin 960 chipset and 4GB of RAM.
The main difference between the P10 and P10+ is screen size and resolution, with the P10’s Full HD display coming in at 5.1-inches and the P10+’s Quad-HD display at 5.5-inches.
The range even recently took home a TIPA award for the quality of their camera.
Officially launching on the 25th of May, it’ll be available through Vodafone and Optus.
Vodafone are offering the 64GB Graphite Black and Prestige Gold variants of the P10, throwing in a free (first gen) Huawei Watch for those who order ahead of time.
They aren’t selling the device outright but it is available on a dozen or so different mobile plans, ranging from $60 to $120.

Optus and Virgin are expected to open up their own pre-order offerings in short order.
Speaking to ChannelNews yesterday, a Huawei spokesperson expressed optimism towards local demand for the device.
They said that the Mate 9 managed to outsell the P9 despite being ranged in fewer places. From the sounds of it, Huawei are hoping the P10 continues that trend and further cements them as a major player in the Australian market.
It has also been revealed that the Huawei Watch 2, originally intended to launch locally alongside the P10, has been pushed back.
The P10 will land with a recommended retail price of $899 while the P10 Plus comes in a little higher at $1099.
