Ikea’s collaboration with SONOS finally arrives in Australia with the Symfonisk range of Wi-Fi speakers and table lamp smart speakers.
Symfonisk range will be available in-store from Friday, September 27, and online from 1 October.
Starting at $149 for the Wi-Fi Bookshelf speaker to $269 for the table lamp Wi-Fi speaker.
Speaking earlier in the year, the head of Ikea’s new home smart business unit, Björn Block said, we want to continue to offer products for a better life at home for the many people going forward. In order to do so, we need to explore products and solutions beyond conventional home furnishing.”
The Symfonisk range is clearer the first step in Ikea’s goal of bringing more diverse smart products to the market.
Designed to produce high-quality sound while also saving space, each Symfonisk speaker is suitable for any setup available in both black and white finishes.
Taking inspiration from the idea of the fireplace, the Ikea designer Iina Vuorivirta challenges the ‘traditional high-tech aesthetic’ with a device that ‘spreads warm light as well as sound’.
Each Symfonisk speaker can be paired together in a multi-room system, with each speaker controlled individually through the SONOS app.
The lamps can also be controlled remotely on your smartphone via the IKEA Home smart app.
It should be noted that the Symfonisk range does not have a dedicated microphone and is therefore not compatible with the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
