According to digitimes.com, Intel says it expects low-cost PC shipments to break 100 million units between 2008 and 2011, while Asustek president Jerry Shen says the market will see shipments of 10 million units in 2008, and 20 million in 2009.

Shen also noted that Asustek expects low-cost PCs to not only be attractive in emerging markets, but will also “open up the second PC market in mature markets, leading to surging growth over the next few years”.
