Chip giant Intel is hoping to have its products sitting inside driverless cars through a partnership with German carmaker BMW and driver assistance system specialist Mobileye.
The chipmaker will put its processors into a car called iNext, pictured. by 2021. The processors will be used in Mobileye’s sensor hardware and software systems that power many autonomous car systems.
The move comes as some carmakers are starting to use Nvidia’s graphics processing units (GPUs) for running infotainment systems as well as machine learning software and integrating all the sensors and navigation control.
