BYO porn is the new buzz among hotel guests.
First video killed the radio star, now notebooks, tabs and the like are killing the in-house porn industry.
The iPad generation is coming to a hotel near you – killing off the demand for in-house porn and other pay-per-view entertainment, so says the Marriott hotel group.
The worldwide hotel chain has said it will no longer provide in-room porn entertainment in its new hotels as demand for it and other options including movies dwindles and it is likely other hotels will follow suit.
The USA-owned Marriott hotel group has six branches throughout Australia including three in Sydney, and one in Melbourne and Brisbane and over 500 worldwide.
However, a quick call to the Marriott in Sydney revealed adult movies are still “readily available” but at a hefty $20.95 per movie.
“We still have some adult selections but these can be blocked on request,” said a hotel spokesperson.
“Changing technology and how guests access entertainment has reduced the revenue hotels and their owners derive from in-room movies, including adult content,” Marriott told a US travel website.
More than 81 percent of those polled by USA Today said they no longer use movie services in hotels, opting to use BYO entertainment on their laptops or tab devices.
According to one guest wrote on Hotel Check-In: “I can burn about 20 movies onto a thumb drive, run them on my laptop, and watch it on the TV.”
“Why would I purchase a movie at hotel prices?”
Last week Smarthouse reported how and uncensored version of Playboy will be coming to an iPad near you soon according to Hugh Hefner the founder of the Playboy empire.
