As we tipped Apple Australia has slashed the price of its six existing iPad 1 models by 21-28 percent. The top 64GB 3G model has had its price cut by more than $200 to $839. The price slashing follows the release yesterday of the new iPad 2.The basic 16GB Wi-Fi only model which was selling for $629 now goes for just $449 at Apple’s Aussie online store – a reduction of 28.6 percent.
Latest prices for other Wi-Fi only models – with former price in brackets – are: 32GB, $579 ($759); 64GB, $689 ($879).
Wi-Fi plus 3G model prices are: 16GB, $598 ($799); 32GB, $729 ($928); and 64GB, $839 ($1049).
Australian pricing for the new models has yet to be announced. In America they start at US$499.
