Apple’s iPhone 5 will have a liquid-metal casing according to reports emerging from South Korea. The ETNews report claims liquid metal alloys will be used in place of the glass featured Apple’s iPhone 4 and 4S.
The technology would not only circumvent the hideous shattered-glass back casing, but will also help keep the new iPhone thinner and lighter.
Endorsing the seemingly implausible rumour is a licensing agreement in place between Apple and Liquidmetal technologies. According to TechRadar, the two companies came to an agreement in 2010 granting Apple the intellectual property rights to its “amorphous metal” technology for use in its future products.
The new iPhone is expected to be announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June.
