As Galaxy S3 is revealed rumours of iPhone 5 are coming fast (and furious).
Apple blog iLounge reckon they’ve got some secret details on i5/i6 (they’re not so sure on names) but believe the next iPhone will be “longer and thinner”, measuring 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm, according to its “sources.”
So i5 will be 10mm bigger yet 2mm slimmer, and vitally, the screen size will also enlarge to 4″ from current 3.5.”
If correct this means the next Apple smartie, which may see a September release, will be in line with the larger superphone trend followed by likes of Samsung with 5″ Galaxy Note, 4.7″ HTC One X and 4.7″ Galaxy S3, announced today.

Apple is also adding a flat metal panel to the rear of the phone, which resembles iMac design, according to iLounge.
But following on from previous versions, it will be feature (partially) hard Gorilla Glass encasing, although it will be GG 2 version which allows the device to slim down yet boast the same strengthened body.
“The change in height will include a lengthening of the prior 3.5″ screen to roughly 4″ on the diagonal,” writes iLounge editor Jeremy Horwitz.
“Apple will change the new iPhone’s aspect ratio for the first time since the original iPhone was introduced in 2007, adding additional pixels to the top and bottom of the screen,” which will impact on software.
A new Dock Connector is also expected to appear on the new iPhone, and is expected on all new Apple’s including the new iPod.
And since The Great War in smartphones is between Apple and Samsung, how does newly announced Galaxy S3, seen as rival to new iPhone matchup?
S3 has a whopping 4.8″ 22% larger Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 px (306ppi), major voice command improvements ( a la Siri), runs Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 and comes in Pebble blue or marble white.
So when ever i5/6 is launched – said to be later this year – it will be the new Samsung Apple has to beat. Get the full Galaxy low down here
