Yet another iPhone 6 leak has emerged, with the latest suggesting a lens that protrudes by less than a millimetre, possibly for first and third-party lens attachments.
There’s less than three weeks to go until Apple finally unveils what’s expected to be two new iPhone 6 models, an iTime/iWatch, and potentially new iPads, Apple TVs, Macs and other surprises.
A big surprise could be a newly protruding camera, said to have a resolution of 10 megapixels, with the sub-millimetre protrusion between 0.67 and 0.77mm set to help Apple’s new iPhone camera literally “stand out”.
Apparently, the guys over at Apple Club have unearthed a leaked screenshot depicting some of the iPhone 6’s characteristics (we’re talking about the 4.7-inch model). Specifically, this leaked schematic suggests that the upcoming Apple flagship phone will have a 0.67 – 0.77 mm protruding camera.
As always, and especially when dealing with such rough looking imagery, it’s very difficult to know whether the image is legit, or not, with the lack of a similar-sized dual-colour LED Flash as seen on the iPhone 5S raising doubts, although some suggest a newer dual-colour LED flash module may have simply shrunken in size.
The news was leaked by Taiwanese Apple news site Apple Club, and was reported in English by tech site GforGames.

If real, the design could indicate Apple has its own set of additional camera lenses that could clip onto the lens protrusion, mimicking the array of third party clip on lenses already available for earlier iPhones.
It would also set off a new boom in third-party lens attachments and accessories while potentially triggering even greater interest in smartphone photography than already exists.
There are also suggestions that the iPhone 6 will only come with 1GB of RAM when its competitors have smartphones with up to 3GB of RAM, alongside rumours the very latest 4G LTE Cat 6 speeds won’t be making an appearance on the iPhone 6, but will come in a future version, presumably the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7.
It’s impossible to know as yet whether this newly leaked image or any of the rumours are correct, but the world expects the new iPhones to be under 7mm thin, to have the fastest Apple A-series processor yet to be dubbed the A8, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, the possibility of NFC being finally added, the potential for extremely durable sapphire screens and more.
We’ll just have to wait until Tim Cook uses his Steve Jobs-derived powers of “reality distortion” on September 9 in the US (which will be the early hours of Sept 10 in Australia) to find out!
