The survey was conducted by Amethon Australia, a Sydney-based mobile content outfit. Its Australian Mobile Internet Insight report claims iPhone users Down Under consume almost six times as much data in a browsing session as average users: 2.07 megabytes versus just 30Kb for the average user.
Amethon says Australian iPhone users delve into sites more deeply and browse for an average for 2.8 minutes, almost double the duration of average mobile users at 1.6 minutes, and even ahead of desktop users who average 2.4 minutes.
(CDN notes this could well change when the Aussie iPhone users get their first monthly bills, with the three Australian carriers Telstra, Optus and Vodafone all placing punitive pricing on excess data downloads).
