Now that the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus has been released the competition is heating up between old rivals Apple and Samsung to see whose phone is better with one report saying the iPhone X camera is better and another claiming the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has the best camera.
DxOMark has given the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus the highest ever score of 99 for its camera. DxOMark scores the camera based on different photographic parameters such as bright light, zoom and bokeh, autofocus, texture, noise and artefacts. The final score is calculated based on all of the parameters and how the camera performed during each.
In its report, DxOMark says, “With an overall DxOMark score of 99 points, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus takes the number one spot in our Mobile ranking, edging out the Google Pixel 2 by just one point. The S9 Plus comes with a camera that hasn’t got any obvious weaknesses and performs very well across all photo and video test categories. The Photo score of 104 points is the best we’ve seen so far. At 91 points the video score is a little lower but still among the best, making the new Samsung an ideal choice for any mobile users who want the best possible still image quality without compromising on video.”
The Apple iPhone X camera was given a score of 97 by DxOMark.
However, Consumer Reports has named the iPhone X the smartphone with the best camera beating the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S8 with the S9 and S9 Plus to be rated later this month. The site has not divulged how they came to the decision with the iPhone X taking the top spot but they do run tests.
The Galaxy S9 Plus has a dual rear camera with 12MP with a 8MP front facing camera and the iPhone X has a 12MP dual lens camera with a 7MP front facing camera.
