Creative has its own line of portable music and video players, which struggles to compete against the ubiquitous iPod. But if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, right? That seems to be what the company is up to with the launch of its new line of docking speakers designed specifically for the iPod range.
The new line-up consists of the top-end X-Fi sound system (i600), which is a 2.1 speaker system for iPod. Creative says its X-Fi audio processor gives this unit the edge in sound quality. Next up is the PlayDock (i500) which is a portable option, with a claimed 16 hours of playback time on batteries.
The new Xdock Wireless, which lets you play stored iPod back tracks in X-Fi sound quality, Creative says. By attaching the (sold separately) Creative wireless receiver, you can listen to your music anywhere around the home wirelessly, also. You can connect any external audio player to the Xdock as well. It features video output and DTS interactive.
Rounding out the range is the TravelSound I docking station, which is powered by either four AA batteries or the bundled power adapter. It is designed, as the name suggests, for travel and use on the go, with a claimed 25 hours of music playback time.
