An accidental leak by Amazon for a new Huawei Watch has revealed that Google is potentially looking to make Android Wear compatible with iOS.
According to a now-removed Amazon pre-order page for the
soon-to-be-released Huawei Watch, Android Wear is about to begin supporting iOS
devices.
According to the listing, the Huawei Watch has a round
1.4-inch screen, comes in four different colour and band combinations, starting
at $349.99 and going up to $799.99 for a gold version. It’s running Android
Wear, Google’s smartwatch operating system, and will be compatible with most
smartphones running either Android or iOS.
Android Wear currently doesn’t work with iOS. It only works
with smartphones running Android. There are workarounds, but at the moment, if
you’re one of the millions with an iPhone, Huawei Watch – and other Android
Wear smartwatches – can’t easily sync with your phone.
Until now the Apple Watch vs Android Wear battle has been
baseless, due to the platform exclusivity of both operating systems.
Amazon says it’ll be shipped to pre-order customers by
September 2.
