Nine months ago when JB Hi Fi opened their new Pitt Street shop in Sydney, one of the key merchandising features was a new headphone display complete with mirrors and the ability to test the headphones with real music. It now appears that Harvey Norman is taking a stab at trying to copy the JB Hi Fi concept which has, according to JB Hi Fi Marketing Director Scott Browning, been a “spectacular success” with the group now rolling the headphone concept out to other stores in the JB Hi Fi chain.
Harvey Norman is using their Melbourne CBD store to run a similar experiment for headphones and sound gear.
Called iPod Central, the dedicated merchandising area allows consumers to try out different headphones with different products.
